What’s in a Scent?
I have friends that wear only one type of perfume. When I ask, why one sole fragrance? The answer is always the same, “It's my #identity.” People use scent as an identifier, which some argue is a good thing. We all want to be thought of in a fond manner. Honestly, when I have smelled a boyfriend’s shirt after it has been worn it always brings to mind all kinds of feelings. It may also be a reminder that it is time do laundry, but either way scent is powerful sense.
Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains. Diane Ackerman
Some like to switch up their traditional scent according to where they are going and what they are doing. I have a fragrance for work; one for playful days and a sensual one for romantic evenings. It is fun to match different scents to the particular mood of the moment. Once a co-worker told me of his favorite perfume so I made sure I wore it when he and I worked together. It did wonders. He looked forward to our workdays together and we always got along. We were never romantically involved, both single at the time, but I bet he thinks of me when he smells the scent I wore to appease him.
As a suggestion, try keeping a scent journal noting a perfume where your results are bountiful or are less than positive, which signifies it may be time for a change. Try new fragrances, you have nothing to lose. When you find your distinct aroma, use it to your advantage. A good friend taught me a scenting trick; always put a dab of perfume under your nose. This will make you feel sensuous. When you can no longer smell it, it is time to reapply.
Try putting a small piece of perfumed tissue between your breasts, no this is not a 7th grade stuffing fest; it is going to replace your sent as you sweat. Never forget your pulse points – wrists, neck, behind your ears, among others.
A simple tip to avoid overpowering your cologne. Spray your cologne in the air in front of you then walk through the mist.
I always believe that to be the best, you have to smell like the best, dress like the best, act like the best. When you throw your trash in the garbage can, it has to be better than anybody else who ever threw trash in the garbage can. Lil Wayne
